On a Quest for the Sun...

When you're looking to buy a motorhome, what factor finds itself at the top of your list? I bet that question is harder to answer than you first thought. The thing is, when we decide to take a home away from home into our lives, it can be just as complicated and agonising a decision as buying a house.

Quite rightly, we all want space, comfort and that little something else. You know what I mean, that little something extra, the one thing that you can't describe, but you know you will know it when you see it. Well that little something else now has a name, thanks to South Yorkshire Motorhomes and Caravans. That name is Sunquest. The Sunquest Range is available exclusively to South Yorkshire Motorhomes and Caravans.

When I first saw the Sunquest range, it wasn't quite what I expected. I mean that in a good way. Most new ranges mean one thing; luxury. And luxury these days seems to be expensive. Well, it is if you want all the comforts most people have come to expect from a motorhome. What South Yorkshire Motorhomes and Caravans have done is made a mode available that still offers everything you could want from a motorhome, without it meaning you have to get a second mortgage.

There are undoubtedly some extremely efficient, reliable and cost effective motorhomes on the market. The Sunquest Range is all of those things, but I guess it comes down to a word that gets used often but not really thought about that much; character.

The Sunquest Range has character. The other word for it would be class. Class and character, I bet they weren't the two things that topped your list. Understandably, they wouldn't be. The fact is that people don't really look for character in a motorhome consciously; it is something that hits you when you see the ‘one'. It also means different things to different people.

The thing for me is the feeling you get from a motorhome. What it makes you feel is the key to the travels and adventures that you will have and let's face it, isn't that why you buy a motorhome in the first place? The Sunquest Range makes you feel again; a trait that I think is hard to capture in motorhome.

When I saw the Sunquest Range, like most people I immediately went to look at the big boy of the group, the Sunquest 180. From the outside it looked stylish with clean cut lines and the ‘less is more' philosophy in regards to the graphics on the outside only added to this impression.
South Yorkshire Motorhomes and Caravans have continued with that theme throughout the whole range. As I stepped up into the Sunquest 180, the first thing that struck me was that there seemed to be so much space, yet it had everything you could want. The combination of layout and interior design made the Sunquest 180 an extremely spacious place to be. The space has been used well and it really shows throughout the whole of the Sunquest Range.

The finish on the interior is also beautifully done. Across all of South Yorkshire Motorhomes and Caravans Sunquest Range, the light wood finish gives a homely yet modern feel and the custom red upholstery complements the style well. Don't think that they have sacrificed style for comfort; if anything the seats are even more comfortable. Both the seating areas are large enough and comfortable enough for when you come back from an action packed day out and everyone just wants to sit and relax on something that won't make you wish you were back on a bike saddle!

More importantly the whole range is geared towards being social. From the comfort of the seats to the layout, the Sunquest Range makes you want to spend time in it. It is the little things like being able to store practically everything away, so that the clean, fresh, spacious and almost summer-esque feeling is never lost; even if you have everybody and his dog around.

I eventually found myself drawn to the Sunquest 130. This model is marketed as a three to five berth motorhome and while I was impressed by the space the larger model offered, it would have been wasted with only three people using it. The Sunquest 130 still has plenty to offer though and if I'm honest, I loved the fact that the kitchen was at the rear, with the shower and toilet, slightly away from the lounge area. I will also admit that this is because I can be a slightly dangerous cook in a confined space, something a competent chef would not need to factor in...

The sleeping facilities across the Sunquest Range are second to none. The fact that South Yorkshire Motorhomes and Caravans have made the seating more comfortable makes it easier to transfer that comfort to the beds. The double bed that folds down from above the drivers cab is surprisingly big and extremely comfortable in all of the models that it has been installed in.

The kitchen area in itself is a marvel. The added grill really helps when you don't want to fry everything and I personally think that there are homes out there with cookers that don't look as good as the glass fronted model in the Sunquest Range. The glass covers over the hob and sink give you that ever sought after extra counter space, too. The fact that there is ample cupboard space in the kitchen areas make it easy and enjoyable to knock a little something up on those nights you don't fancy wandering down to the local town or village in search of food.

I have always been critical of the shower and toilet space in motorhomes. I understand that it will never be the biggest space in a motorhome but I do think they could be better designed to give a little extra space. The Sunquest 130 did in fact offer some respite for me. You can comfortably fit in the shower and the fold up basin gives you more space than you think. Well placed mirrors make the room seem bigger and lighter, and some of the Sunquest Range offer larger bathrooms with a great corner unit, sporting large mirrors and plenty of storage. Overall, you can tell that the Sunquest Range has been thought about form every single angle.

The fuel consumption isn't bad either. The Sunquest Range offers on average 35mpg off of a 2.2 HDi turbo Diesel Engine. Giving out 100bhp, it isn't exactly lacking a bit of grunt and the little extras such as the Peugeot CD/Radio system, which comes at no extra cost, really make it a great drive. The fact that the seats for the driver and passenger offer the same comfort as the ones in the lounge, make it a comfortable drive even if you're eating up the miles. Also, all of the Sunquest Range comes with at least two other seats that have fitted seat belts, which is an extremely important factor to consider, especially if you have young children travelling with you.

The Sunquest 130 that I looked at was very well priced at just over £32,000, which I thought was excellent value considering what you get for your money. Now, I know you can probably find a cheaper alternative, but that is the magic of the Sunquest Range; you don't want to.
